The government plans to distribute tablets to teachers and expand free Wi-Fi access in educational institutions as part of its budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
The budget speech said the “One Teacher, One Tablet” program will be implemented, while multimedia classrooms will be expanded and free internet connectivity introduced in schools and colleges. It also outlined plans to introduce an AI-based education system.
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury unveiled the proposed national budget in parliament on Thursday for the 2026–27 fiscal year. The budget, the first under the current government, has an outlay of Tk 938,000 crore.
