The government has announced a major initiative to expand access to higher education for girls by extending free education opportunities for female students up to the graduation level.

Officials said the measure aims to reduce financial barriers to education, promote gender equality, and strengthen women's economic empowerment by expanding access to tertiary education.
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury unveiled the proposed national budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year in parliament on Thursday.
The proposed budget, the first under the current government, has an outlay of Tk938,000 crore.
