RMG has received the most incentives among the export sectors. More than Tk2,900 crore in cash incentives have been paid to this sector alone

Update : 16 May 2026, 09:55 PM

Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson and Executive Director Arif Hossain Khan said that all applications related to cash incentives submitted for the export sector till April 30 of the current FY26 have been completely settled.

According to the central bank, a total of about Tk3,100 crore has been paid so far, which is being considered an important implementation of the country's export incentive system.

He gave this information on Saturday (May 16).

He also said that the readymade garment industry (RMG) has received the most incentives among the export sectors. More than Tk2,900 crore in cash incentives have been paid to this sector alone.

The remaining amount has been paid against the export of jute and jute products.

According to this calculation by the central bank, the ready-made garment sector, the main driver of export earnings, has received the lion's share of the total incentives, which once again makes clear the dominance of this sector in the country's foreign exchange earnings structure.

Economists believe that if export incentives are paid quickly and in full, the cash flow of exporters remains active, which helps maintain production and export capacity.

Especially in the current context of increasing competition in the global market, such cash support acts as an important financial support for the industrial sector.

In this regard, Bangladesh Bank has informed that regular monitoring and digital management are being strengthened to make the incentive payment process more transparent and faster, so that exporters can get their due benefits on time.

It is worth noting that a large part of the country's export earnings comes from the RMG sector.

As a result, the speed and amount of incentive payments in this sector directly affect the overall export growth and the continuity of industrial production, according to those concerned.
