However, despite this overall decline, there are signs of recovery in the latest month.

Year-on-year, garment exports increased to $3.14 billion in April 2026, which was $2.39 billion in the same month of 2025. That is, there has been a growth of 31.21% in one year.

A sector-wise analysis shows that the export earnings in the knitwear sector in April stood at $1.70 billion, which is 30.02% more than the previous year.

At the same time, exports in the oven sector increased by $1.44 billion, with a growth of 32.65%.

In this context, former BGMEA director and additional managing director of Denim Expert Limited Mohiuddin Rubel said that although overall exports are under some pressure, the growth in the last month is a positive message for the sector.

According to him, the export trend may strengthen further in the coming months as demand in the global market gradually recovers.
