To save electricity and energy across the country, Bangladesh Bank has set new office hours for banks as well as finance companies.
This schedule will be effective from April 5, 2026 until further notice.
A circular issued by the Department of Financial Institutions and Markets (DFIM) of Bangladesh Bank on Saturday (April 4) said that all finance companies operating in the country will operate their offices five days a week—Sunday to Thursday—from 10am to 5pm.
Friday and Saturday will be weekly holidays.
The circular states that this directive has been issued under the powers conferred by Section 41(2)(d) of the Finance Companies Act, 2023.
Meanwhile, the office hours of banks have also been fixed under the same directive.
From April 5, banks will operate their offices from 10am to 5pm from Sunday to Thursday.
However, customer transactions will continue from 10am to 3pm. Banks will remain on weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday.
Bangladesh Bank has taken this decision in line with the changed office hours announced by the government to save electricity and energy, according to relevant sources.
