Update : 26 Mar 2026, 03:30 PM

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) is going to start pre-budget discussions with stakeholders ahead of the budget for the upcoming FY27.

These meetings will be held consecutively from March 31 to April 28.

According to NBR sources, various business organizations, economists, researchers, professionals and journalists will participate in these meetings held at the NBR building in Agargaon in the capital.

Representatives of the relevant sectors will present their budget proposals, problems and expectations in the discussions.

Like every year, the revenue authority has taken the initiative to collect the opinions of stakeholders before formulating the budget.

In these meetings, business organizations will present their sector-specific tax and duty proposals and arguments.

NBR officials will consider including them in the budget proposal as needed after listening to those opinions.

Earlier, at the beginning of this month, the NBR invited written budget proposals from business organizations. They were asked to send their proposals by March 15.

It is learnt that a consultative meeting will be held on April 29 on the budget for FY27 after the pre-budget discussions are over.

NBR officials said that the opinions of the stakeholders are given importance in determining revenue collection policies and budget formulation. To this end, they want to formulate a participatory, people-oriented and equitable budget.
