Leaders of the Association of Travel Agents (Atab) have said that “baseless propaganda” is being spread against its current executive committee.
According to a statement they issued, rumors of cancellation of Atab's committee are completely baseless.
“A vested interest group is deliberately spreading such propaganda due to Atab's bold stance to break the active syndicate in the country's air ticket market.”
In the release sent to the media, Atab said that the current committee recently took a firm stand to break the ticket syndicate in the country's air ticket market and ensure tolerable and normal prices in the interest of the people.
Since then, the syndicate circle concerned has filed false allegations, spread misleading and distorted information and has been trying to cancel the committee through various conspiratorial activities.
The press release further mentioned that a hearing of the allegations brought against the Atab committee was held at the Trade Organization Sub-Division office on July 7.
However, no decision was taken regarding the cancellation of the committee in the hearing.
Atab claimed that the ticket syndicate group is trying to mislead the general public, including about 4,000 Atab members, by spreading false rumors. These misinformation campaigns are tarnishing the image of the organization and hurting the self-esteem of its members.
The notice further stated that Atab will continue to take a vocal stand against those involved in increasing the price of air tickets and will work together with the government to prevent the syndicate.
