Brac Bank brings CAREERtalk to Jahangirnagar University, Chittagong University to inspire students

The initiative, designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry

Brac Bank recently conducted its signature career mentorship initiative, CAREERtalk, at Jahangirnagar University and the University of Chittagong, reaffirming its commitment to empowering Bangladesh’s youth.

The initiative, designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, aims to guide students in making informed career choices, developing leadership skills, and preparing for the modern workplace. 

The program held at JU on April 27 and at CU on May 22, the sessions sparked engaging dialogue on personal growth, professional readiness, and the evolving dynamics of the job market. 

The Jahangirnagar University session was attended by Dr AKM Rashidul Alam, proctor, and Mahade Hasan, assistant professor, Department of Accounting and Information Systems. 

At the University of Chittagong, the event was graced by Tanvir Hayder Mohammad Arif, proctor; Md Abu Bakkar Siddik, chairman, Department of Banking and Insurance; and Prof Dr Mohammad Saleh Johur and Dr Mohammad Hasmat Ali from the Department of Finance. 

Representing Brac Bank at Jahangirnagar University were Nazmur Rahim, deputy managing director and gead of Alternate Banking Channels; Akhteruddin Mahmood, head of Human Resources; and Mahbubur Rahman, head of Small (East) Liability and Chief Bancassurance Officer. 

At University of Chittagong, the bank was represented by Kayesh Chowdhury, head of Regional Corporate – Chittagong, and Akhteruddin Mahmood, alongside vibrant Young Leaders and officials from the bank.

Throughout both events, students gained first-hand insights into corporate expectations, career strategy, and personal branding from seasoned professionals. 

“We are not just a bank, we are builders of human potential. CAREERtalk is part of our larger mission to mentor, motivate and prepare the youth of today to be the changemakers of tomorrow,” said Akhteruddin Mahmood.

Nazmur Rahim remarked: “CAREERtalk is one of our key platforms to give back, by mentoring the next generation and equipping them with the mindset to lead with integrity, innovation, and impact.” 

The enthusiastic participation from students and strong endorsement by faculty members underscored the relevance and impact of such initiatives. 

As CAREERtalk continues to reach campuses nationwide, it reflects BRAC Bank’s purpose-driven commitment to nurturing future professionals and strengthening Bangladesh’s talent pipeline through meaningful engagement and mentorship.
