Apon, the impact-driven social enterprise founded by renowned entrepreneur Saif Rashid, has completed eight years of transforming the lives of industrial workers in Bangladesh through affordable grocery access, zero-interest credit, and healthcare benefits.

Since its inception in 2017, Apon has evolved from a single pilot project into a robust platform serving over 170,000 ready-made garment (RMG) workers nationwide.

With the recent launch of its 44th in-factory fair price shop, Apon continues to expand its footprint to meet the essential needs of blue-collar workers directly at their workplaces.

Throughout this journey, Apon has been supported by key ecosystem partners, including Green Delta Insurance, Progoti Life Insurance, Brac Bank, UNCDF, Biniyog Briddhi, and others. These partnerships have played a crucial role in scaling Apon’s mission of promoting worker dignity, financial stability, and well-being.

Apon’s fair price shops offer groceries at significantly reduced prices, enabling workers to save between Tk200–500 per month. Workers can shop using their factory ID, with purchases deducted from their monthly wages, interest-free. This model eliminates the need for high-cost informal credit and increases predictability in household budgeting.

Through its Surokkhito Thakun loyalty program, Apon also provides free health insurance to regular customers, further reducing financial vulnerability during medical emergencies. The organization is now preparing to introduce digital credit, savings tools, and purposeful loans through its growing fintech services.

Looking ahead, Apon plans to reach 100 shops by 2027, expand internationally with operations in the Middle East, and contribute to national-level conversations around worker welfare and digital financial inclusion.

As Apon celebrates eight years of impact, it remains committed to creating a more dignified, affordable, and inclusive ecosystem for Bangladesh’s industrial workforce.
