Bangladesh’s largest railway bridge, Jamuna Rail Bridge is designed to reinforce Bangladesh’s transportation framework by enabling a more efficient railway network, reducing dependency on road transport, and facilitating swifter movement of passengers and goods across the country.
The railway bridge, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and constructed by Obayashi-TOA-JFE Joint Venture and IHI-SMCC Joint Venture, Japan, features Chugoku Marine Paints Limited (CMP) of Japan as the exclusive supplier of protective coatings.
The project adheres to the "Coating and Anticorrosion Handbook for Steel Highway Bridges 2014.3" issued by the Japanese Road Association, ensuring world-class durability and long-term resistance against harsh environmental conditions.
The paints used in this project are driven by advanced Japanese technology and sourced from globally renowned brand, CMP.
Notably, the CMP Fluorex, fluoropolymer coating has been applied, ensuring superior durability and long-lasting protection for this critical infrastructure. This is the first time such coating (fluoropolymer) have been applied in the country.
Designed for the long-term protection and durability, these coatings provide exceptional resistance against rust, corrosion, and harsh environmental conditions.
Beyond shielding steel from prolonged exposure to moisture and oxidation, fluoropolymer coatings also safeguard against the harmful effects of industrial chemicals commonly found in transportation and structural environments.
Rupali Chowdhury, managing director of Berger Paints Bangladesh, stated: “The successful application of CMP Fluorex, fluoropolymer coatings on the Jamuna Rail Bridge marks a significant milestone. It exemplifies the synergy between Berger and CMP in driving technological advancement and innovation. This achievement will further solidify our commitment to Bangladesh’s infrastructural progress.”
Berger Paints Bangladesh continues to lead the industry in quality, innovation, and technological excellence.
By contributing to the construction of the Jamuna Rail Bridge, Berger& CMP once again demonstrated its expertise.
