Prof Md Maksudur Rahman Sarker FCMA has been appointed as the chairman of the Board Audit Committee of SBAC Bank PLC.
The decision was made during the 189th meeting of the bank’s board of directors recently.
Prof Maksudur Rahman Sarker completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) and Master of Commerce degrees in Accounting at Dhaka University, where he was awarded the first class first position in both and subsequently joined the department as lecturer.
He later obtained an MBA in Finance from the University of New Brunswick, Canada.
He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Level-1, awarded by the Association for Investment Management and Research (USA), and completed a professional CMA (Cost and Management Accountant) degree from the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB).
Before that, Prof Sarkar completed his higher education with scholarships in Canada and the United States. He earned recognition at both the secondary and higher secondary levels by securing a meritorious position on the Comilla Education Board.
Prof Md Maksudur Rahman Sarkar is a distinguished academician, researcher and renowned accountant with expertise in the financial sector.
He has authored more than 35 published articles in different academic and professional journals both at home and abroad.
His book, “Credit Management of Commercial Banks: A Comparative Study of Public and Private Sector Banks,” has gained significant popularity among readers.
Prof Sarkar has also participated in international financial seminars and conferences in over 20 countries, including the US, Canada, Japan, South Africa and China.
