The deadline for submitting income tax returns has been extended by one more month.
Individual taxpayers can now submit their returns until January 31, and company taxpayers can submit their returns until February 15.
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) made this decision on Tuesday, December 24, and issued two separate orders regarding this.
Previously, the deadline for individual taxpayers was set for November 30.
After requests from businesspeople and taxpayers, the deadline was extended by one month to December 31.
Now, the NBR has extended the deadline by another month, allowing individual taxpayers to submit their returns until January 31 next year.
For company taxpayers, the deadline for submitting returns has been extended from January 15 to February 15.
A notice sent to the media on Tuesday, December 24, said that according to the Income Tax Law, 2023, the last date for submitting income tax returns for all taxpayers, except companies, for the 2024-2025 fiscal year was originally December 31.
With the extension, all taxpayers, except companies, can submit their returns without penalties by January 31, both online and offline.
It is noteworthy that this year, the National Board of Revenue made it mandatory for all government employees in Dhaka North, Dhaka South, Gazipur, and Narayanganj City Corporations, employees of all scheduled banks across the country, employees of all mobile telecom service providers across the country, and employees working in multinational companies mentioned in the order to submit their income tax returns online.
