The eighth Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Executive Committee Election of the Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) was held at a city hotel on Wednesday.
No president was elected as both the presidential candidates, NTV Chairman Mohammad Mosaddak Ali and Banglavisi Chairman Abdul Haque, received equal votes.
Election Commissioner Iqbal Hasan said the election will be held at a convenient time for the president post. At a press briefing, he announced the names of other elected officials.
Anjan Chowdhury, current President of ATCO and Managing Director of Maasranga Television, presided over the event.
Managing Director of Desh TV Arif Hasan was elected as general secretary for 2024-26 session while Chairman of DBC News Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury as vice-president and Director of Channel i Zahiruddin Mahmood Mamun as treasurer.
Following the press conference, President Anjan Chowdhury expressed his hope that the media would be vocal about rights issues and freedom of expression. He called on everyone to contribute to the country's development.
