Purbani Group is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of its glorious Journey. Founded in 1973, it is now one of the most prominent conglomerates in Bangladesh.
Celebrating the streak of success with a glittering event. The event, held at the United Convention Center in the capital on Thursday, highlighted the group's founding story, various achievements, contribution to the country's economy and plans for the future.
Abdul Hai Sarker, chairman and CEO of the Purbani Group, was the chief guest at the event. Shafiqul I Sarker (Sohel), managing director, was the special guest.
Purbani Group officials and various renowned businessmen, exporters, importers, and senior officials of various organizations in the country were present.
Purbani is one of the largest and oldest established 100% export-oriented Textile conglomerates in Bangladesh since 1973 and doing business for more than 5 decades with eminence. It is a vertically integrated textile-manufacturing group running with 13 business units involved in Spinning, Yarn Dyeing, Fabrics Manufacturing & Dyeing, Ready Made Garments, Retail Clothing and Agriculture.
Chairman and CEO Abdul Hai Sarker stated in his speech, our top priority is to prioritize the safety and well-being of our prime asset, our workers. We provide a comfortable and enjoyable work environment, ensuring compliance with current labor rights. We collaborate closely with the International Labor Organization, ILO, to foster this development.
He also said, our goal is to support the community we emerged from by connecting underprivileged individuals with necessities and providing upcycled with close through partnerships with charitable organizations. We have successfully aligned our operations with the Green Initiative, ensuring a positive impact on the environment. Our factories are progressing towards adopting sustainable production technology and attaining SDGs, aligning with the priority sustainable development goals and national priority indicators. To ensure a clean future, we have implemented biological effluent treatment plans that adhere to ZDHC, DOE, detox, and other wastewater standards.
Managing Director Shafiqul I Sarker (Sohel) said: “Purbani has gone the extra mile to build our foundation nationwide. The company started with a made-in venture as a trading company during the early 70s. That has now become one of the largest textile groups, spreading its wings towards agro farming, fishing, and the financial sector, keeping its significant presence in Bangladesh's textile sectors.
