Sheltech Group and Envoy Textile Chairman Kutubuddin Ahmed has been appointed as the honorary consul of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Bangladesh.
Sheltech Group and Envoy Textile Managing Director Tanvir Ahmed confirmed the news to Dhaka Tribune.
In a letter of patent, Bendito dos Santos Freitas, Timor-Leste’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, appointed Kutubuddin Ahmed as honorary consul in Bangladesh, responsible for protecting Timor-Leste's interests and citizens in Dhaka, per the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
The letter was issued on Sunday.
He was awarded the title of knight officer of the Spanish Royal Order of Merit by the King of Spain in 2020.
He is a former BGMEA president and has also served as the secretary general of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA). In 2002, he received the National Sports Award, and in 2016, he was honored as the businessperson of the Year by DHL and The Daily Star.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Buet.
