Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited (BPBL) organized an award-giving ceremony, the Berger Award Program for the Students of Architecture BUET (BASAB), in collaboration with the Department of Architecture, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Wednesday.
The event was held at BUET campus.
In the ceremony, a total of 36 awardees from sessions 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 were rewarded in four categories.
The winners received prize money as scholarships along with crests and certificates.
For the 2019-2020 session, the Berger Travel Grant was awarded to Nayem Ahasan Srijon, Sadman Alam, Pronoy Chowdhury, Tahmid Yaasin, Esrat Jahan, and Sadia Hossain.
The Berger Best Portfolio Award went to Dishan Rahman and MD Shohanur Rahman, while the Berger Promising Designer Award was given to Anik Kumar Chandra.
The Berger Best Design Award was won by Ahnaf Kabbya, Fardin Rahman, Fatin Kashf Nafi, Aqib Mohammad Nibir, Nayem Ahasan Srijon, Mohammad Faiyaz Alam, Hasibul Hossain, Md. Arafat Rahman Dewan, Pronoy Chowdhury, Tahmid Yaasin, and Shafaet Alam Abir.
For the 2020-2021 session, the Berger Travel Grant was rewarded to Sarowar Jahan Apu, Shifat Mahmud, Samiya Hoque Monisha, Samiha Tasnim, Sadia Sabrin Tarannum, Adiba Farheen, Samiha Nawshin, and Musarrat Salsabil Chowdhury.
The Berger Best Portfolio Award went to Sakib Nasir Khan, the Berger Promising Designer Award was given to Fateh-Ul-Islam, and the Berger Best Design Award was won by Sakib Nasir Khan, Mashraba Islam, Sadia Azmee Parisa, Tashdeed Yasar Anondow, Mustaba Akib Khan, and Inan Anjum.
Prof. Dr. Satya Prasad Majumder, vice-chancellor, BUET, Rupali Chowdhury, managing director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd., Tanzeen Ferdous Alam, CMO of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd. and AKM Sadeque Nawaj, CBO of Berger Paints Bangladesh Ltd. were present during the awards program.
Among others, Prof. Dr. Abdul Jabbar Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, BUET, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Zakiul Islam, Head, Department of Architecture, BUET, Dr. Nayma Khan, Professor, Department of Architecture, BUET, and Director, Berger Awards Programme Committee, and Ar. Ahammad-Al-Muhaymin, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, BUET, and Member Secretary, Berger Awards Programme Committee were also present.
Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director, Berger, said: “The potential exhibited by our aspiring architects is truly remarkable, and it is with great honor that we, on behalf of Berger, pledge to provide them with the recognition and assistance they rightfully merit.”
As a part of its corporate social responsibility, Berger Paints introduced this initiative back in 2007 in collaboration with the Department of Architecture, BUET, to assist the students of architecture by giving them a glimpse of the practical world and inspire them to go further into their studies.
