FBCCI for supply chain stability, fair pricing during Ramadan

FBCCI chief emphasizes the importance of ensuring a steady supply of goods during Ramadan

Mahbubul Alam, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the apex trade organization of the country, on Wednesday urged traders to ensure supply chain stability and fair profits during Ramadan.

He made this call during a meeting with retailers, wholesale traders, manufacturers and importers of essential commodities at the FBCCI office in the capital Dhaka on the day.

Alam said that it would take stringent measures to stop extortion in goods transportation.

He urged businessmen to report any extortion during goods transportation to the FBCCI. He assured that they will take action against extortionists and will not spare anyone. If needed, they will discuss the issue with the government for a solution.

Alam emphasized the importance of ensuring a steady supply of goods during Ramadan. He called on business organizations and market committee leaders to take responsibility for monitoring the market regularly.

He also warned against attempts to manipulate prices through artificial crises and promised strict action against those found guilty.

He advocated for market committee leaders to oversee price regulations, stressing that profits should be fair.

"We do business to make a profit, but that profit must be fair." He emphasized that during Ramadan, business activities should continue responsibly, with fair pricing and discounts prevailing.

FBCCI senior vice-president Md Amin Helaly reiterated that FBCCI was against any dishonest business practices. He assured that action would be taken against those who create artificial crises. FBCCI will monitor the market during Ramadan to ensure stability.

Various market associations have also assured that there would be no shortage of essential products like cooking oil, sugar, pulses, gram and dates during Ramadan.
