Is Google's latest Pixel watch and earbuds, the best in android accessories?

The battery life of the Pixel Watch 2 has improved, lasting 24 hours on a single charge, even with the always-on display

Update : 18 Oct 2023, 07:35 PM

Google's latest range of Pixel devices, unveiled at the October 4, 2023, Google Keynote event, exemplifies the company's dedication to democratizing AI and enhancing its impact on a broad audience. Introducing the Pixel Buds Pro and Pixel Watch 2, both of which are packed with remarkable AI-driven features and improved hardware.

The Pixel Buds Pro is the ultimate choice for Android users, offering features such as noise cancellation, conversation detection, Bluetooth Super Wideband, Clear Calling, and more. On the other hand, the Pixel Watch 2 comes with an array of new sensors, extended battery life, Body Response technology, and seamless integration with Fitbit.

Let's delve into the details of these remarkable devices and discover the game-changing capabilities they bring to the table.

Pixel Buds Pro

Google's latest flagship wireless earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro, bring several AI-powered features. Improved Clear Calling technology filters out background noise and boosts voice clarity without requiring manual activation. It employs Bluetooth Super Wide Band Speech for more natural phone and video calls, significantly improving call quality.

The Pixel Buds Pro features Conversation Detection mode, using machine learning to pause audio and switch to transparency mode when you start talking to someone. This ensures clear communication without removing your earbuds, automatically reverting to Active Noise Cancellation afterward.

It also introduces a low-latency gaming mode that reduces audio latency by up to 50%, enhancing the gaming experience, especially for "compatible" games on Pixel phones.

These earbuds support spatial audio with head tracking, providing a cinematic audio experience that adapts to head movements while watching content. The Pixel Buds app, accessible on Chromebooks, helps you maintain safe listening levels and offers new color options to match the latest Pixel phones.

Pixel Watch 2

Introducing the Pixel Watch 2: A premium wearable that seamlessly integrates Google's cutting-edge AI capabilities with Fitbit's expertise in health and fitness. With a fresh design and a wide range of smart features, it distinguishes itself by offering a unique blend of Google and Fitbit experiences, alongside top-tier health and fitness tracking.

Enhanced Experience: The Pixel Watch 2 brings significant improvements to the overall watch experience compared to its predecessor. While maintaining its distinctive domed glass design, it now features a more robust cover glass, making it 10% lighter and more comfortable with its 100% recycled aluminum casing.

The haptic crown has been refined for precise feedback, and new strap styles and watch faces cater to diverse occasions. The sports design ensures better breathability. Powered by the new quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 CPU, it delivers a smoother and faster performance, eliminating previous stutter issues.

The battery life of the Pixel Watch 2 has also improved, lasting 24 hours on a single charge, even with the always-on display. It also charges faster, and when you need to recharge, it only takes thirty minutes to get enough juice for another 12 hours. Plus, you can enjoy the full Wear OS 4 experience with apps like Gmail and Calendar, enhancements to YouTube Music, Maps, Google Assistant, and more. You can also customize your watch with your favourite third-party apps from the Play Store.

Skin temperature sensor: The new skin temperature sensor provides more accurate sleep and overall wellness insights. The new continuous electrodermal activity sensor, or cEDA sensor, powers Fitbit's Body Response feature. It detects moments when you exhibit physical signs of stress, suggests ways to relax, and then afterwards prompts reflection over your day and week to help you better manage your stress in the future. This feature can help anyone who wants to have a more comprehensive understanding of their health and wellness. This is also the goal of the newly redesigned Fitbit app launched last month.

The most notable new software feature falls under the Personal Safety umbrella. And if you get into a bind, you now have Pixel's safety features like medical information and emergency sharing right on your watch. Google brings Safety Check over from Pixel phones to make sure you don't feel alone on the trail or on your walk home. Just set a timer for when you expect to arrive back home. Safety Check will share your real-time location with your emergency contacts if you can't check in after it expires. And by the way, with Fitbit Premium, you can use safety features like Safety Check and Emergency Location Sharing, even if you haven't connected your LTE-enabled Pixel Watch 2 to a network.

The Pixel Watch 2 now syncs with the new Fitbit app, which gives you a comprehensive overview of your health and wellness with personalized insights and content. The app has a contemporary design with three tabs in the simplified UI: the Today tab, which shows your stats and goals; the Coach tab, which allows you to browse and filter workouts and mindfulness sessions; and the You tab, which helps you manage your personal details, goals, achievements, and connections with friends and family.

In summary, the Pixel Watch 2 is offered in both Wi-Fi and LTE variants, and every purchase includes six months of Fitbit Premium, providing invaluable support for your wellness journey. Additionally, for those keen on fitness tracking, the recently launched Fitbit Charge 6 offers the most precise heart rate monitoring to date, alongside exclusive integration of essential Google features like Maps, Wallet, and YouTube Music controls.
