Islamic scholar and CEO of Sultan Collection Rafi bin Monir says that speakers in Waz mahfils (sermons) currently are seen wasting a huge amount of time by talking unnecessarily outside the Quran and Sunnah, thus attaining popularity through cheap tactics via digital content creation, but at the expense of deviating from actual religious beliefs.
"We who give Islamic speeches in Mahfils should avoid all unnecessary words and actions. It can be avoided only by following the Qur'an and Sunnah," he said.
Allah mentions the qualities of believers who possess Jannatul Firdaus in verse 3 of Surah Mu'minun and says: "And those who turn away from unnecessary words and deeds", he also said, referring to the Quran.
How can a speaker talk unnecessarily and take a position contrary to the Quran, inviting himself and his listeners to be deprived of paradise in afterlife? Rafi bin Monir also iterated.
Citing Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Bukhari Hadith's verse 6474, he also said, "Who will protect his tongue from unnecessary words. He confirmed that he will be the guarantor of his paradise. Whoever is a guarantor between his two jaws and between his legs, I, the Prophet, will be his guarantor of Paradise."
Referencing another book, Tirmidhi Hadith verse 2586, Rafi bin Monir said that in order to be liberated in the hereafter, one must avoid unnecessary words and actions.
Hazrat Uqbah Ibn Amer (RA) asked had asked Prophet Muhammad what liberation consisted of. The Prophet advised to keep the tongue under control, he also cited.
"A believer cannot waste his time by indulging in unnecessary talk. For example, Prophet Muhammad also said that whoever believed in Allah and in afterlife should speak good words or at least refrain from evil words. You speak well, you will benefit. Abstain from evil deeds and be safe," Rafi bin Monir said, citing Mustadra Hakeem Hadith-7774.
Rafi bin Monir said that after all praises to Allah and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad, Allah had bestowed Waz Mahfils as a blessing for Bangladesh and its people to speak and listen to religious words. Elsewhere in the world this arrangement are very rarely held in such grandeur. It is proved from the Quran and Sunnah that in order to benefit, to be safe, to be liberated and to be a possessor of Jannatul Firdaus, it is necessary to avoid unnecessary words and actions.
