Although SUVs and crossovers are gaining popularity fast these days, I think most people are missing out by not considering the superb 2021 Honda Accord sedan.
The Accord can do most things your average compact crossover can do, and its superb handling will give its driver the thrill an average sedan won’t be able to provide.
The Honda Accord has been a popular name among car enthusiasts since it was first brought to the market in 1976 and since then, it has been best known for its smooth ride and the ample space for your family to travel in comfort and style.
The car will set you back Tk54 lakh minimum and will go higher depending on the specification. Today we will see if the hype with the Accord is really worth the price tag.
Engine and driving experience
The vehicle generates a reasonably good amount of torque, producing 260Nm at 1600-5000 rpm. The engine is an In-Line 4-cylinder with turbocharged V-TEC.
The Accord and the CRV use the same engine; but when it comes to driving, the Accord is front-wheel drive, thus limiting the amount of fun but compensating in other ways by making it more fuel-efficient. Honda delivers a fun driving experience, as the brand always has.
While driving, the steering feels ultra-light; very easy to manoeuvre given the sheer size of the vehicle.
A car of its size and engine needs to be fitted with a good braking system. The power-assisted braking system seems to do a great job at bringing the car to a very smooth halt.
It consists of an anti-lock braking system (ABS) on all four wheels.
However, the downsides include a slight lag in acceleration and a few blind spots which could make driving a bit difficult in complicated situations.
Interior
You would be wrong to expect an inferior build quality, the finishing and placement of every little accessory and component are on-point. And since the Accord is assembled in Thailand, it is relatively more affordable in comparison with its competitors.
All models come standard with a touch screen infotainment system with an 8.0-inch display. Bluetooth and USB connectivity is also available across the board. I found the system to be quick, attractive, and easy to use; even people who are not too tech-friendly should find it intuitive.
Honda offers a 10-speaker premium audio system with a 450-watt amplifier on the top spec model, but in general, all specs have either a four or eight-speaker system.
Exterior
Exterior features include, one-touch power sunroof and Crystal LED with daytime running lights on all basic models as well. Apart from that, the Accord comes with a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, an essential for those blind spots mentioned earlier.
The tenth-generation Accord started its journey at the end of 2017 and entered the Bangladesh market during the third quarter of 2019. Available with four colour trims — black, white, silver, and grey with all-black interiors, it is available at DHS motors, located at Tejgaon in the capital.
DHS also offers a three-year warranty with free services but for that, you have to contact the dealership.
Also, one of the most important things to consider while purchasing any car is the yearly tax which has been increased in 2020.
The fact that the Honda Accord comes with a 1.5L engine, taxes are not as hefty as one would expect, making sure it doesn’t put a dent on your wallet.
Speaking to a few owners of the model who have been driving it for a while, they have all had positive feedback and said it was a very easy vehicle to live with.
Is the new Honda Accord living up to its name?
