Ayesha's Makeover Salon and Spa fined for VAT evasion
In just one and a half years, this beauty salon has evaded Tk18,85,486 VAT

VAT Audit, Intelligence and Investigation Directorate of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) have found evidence of Tk19 lakh VAT evasion against Ayesha's Makeover Salon and Spa.
They found the amount while investigating a complaint against a handwritten invoice given by a customer.
Two branches of the salon have been sued under the VAT Act.
According to the investigation, Ayesha's Makeover Salon and Spa’s Wari branch provided services worth Tk76,88,600 from July 2020 to December 19, 2021.
The company paid only Tk43,000 VAT on the monthly return of the local Sutrapur VAT circle. The amount of evaded VAT is Tk11,10,290.
According to the VAT Act, at the rate of 2% per month, Tk1,53,032 interest is applicable on this evasion.
On the other hand, the Banani branch provided services worth Tk31,47,840. This branch has evaded VAT of Tk4,10,588. According to the VAT Act, Tk78,533 interest should be added to it.
Apart from this, the VAT intelligence has got the information about the evasion of VAT worth Tk1,33,043 on the rent.
In just one and a half years, this beauty salon has evaded Tk18,85,486 VAT.
Director-General of VAT Intelligence Moinul Khan told Dhaka Tribune: “The investigation was carried out on the basis of specific allegations made by a customer. A case has been filed against two branches of the parlour. Now according to the Act, VAT will be levied.”
“The case report against Wari's parlour has been sent to Dhaka East VAT Commissionerate. The case of Banani branch has been sent to Dhaka North VAT Commissionerate by VAT intelligence,” he added.
It’s being informed that a customer was given a handwritten invoice when they received services from Ayesha's Makeover Salon and Spa.
Later, the customer lodged a complaint with the VAT Intelligence Directorate.
Then a team of the VAT Intelligence Directorate conducted a raid on its Wari and Banani branch.
At the beginning of the campaign, the representative of the organization was requested to submit the VAT-related documents of the organization, but they could not show the VAT registration number and VAT-related documents.
Later, VAT and commercial documents obtained at the premises of the businesses revealed their discrepancies and evidence of VAT evasion.
Ayesha's Makeover Salon and Spa is located at 29/1, Tipu Sultan Road. Its VAT registration number is 002482711-0301.
Apart from this, another branch of the company is located at Road-8, Banani.
