Digital learning

Update : 23 Nov 2021, 06:56 PM

A well thought out digital learning strategy can be an advantage to everyone, and digital learning is as effective.

Technology has become an integral part of our lives and a distinct feature of the modern world. Nowadays, people are entirely dependent on technology and the internet to fulfill daily activities, which has further led to the entrance of digitalization in all fields and sectors of the economy.

The Covid-19 pandemic emphasized the crucial role of technology in our daily lives— especially for teaching and learning.

Traditionally, Digital learning has been viewed as an alternative pathway that was predominantly well suited to adult learners seeking higher education opportunities.

Nevertheless, the crisis forced educational institutions and learners across all levels to adapt to virtual classes speedily.

Adding to that, the continuous evolution of touch-screen technology has enabled almost every student to engage in technology-aided instruction.

Digital learning promises to bring education to anyone with an internet connection.

Growing speed and availability of internet access are reducing various geographic constraints that disadvantage underprivileged students.

Prior to convenient portable devices, it was difficult for preschool, kindergarten, and early primary grade students to work with educational software as it required the use of a mouse or keyboard.

Now, there are numerous applications that can effectively and efficiently teach children.

Digital learning can improve the students’ academic performance by promoting vital and future-ready skills, for instance, communication, collaboration, and technology.

It is creating smarter and more efficient societies that are up-to-date with new technologies.

Online education also provides access to a specialized course that may otherwise not be readily available in specific geographic locations.

Likewise, the learning environment can be easily controlled in online environments, which ultimately helps students develop a deeper understanding of the classes.

It also provides students with the opportunity to finish a course or degree they may have started before but were unable to continue.

Numerous platforms worldwide have begun introducing some sort of digital learning for students of all age groups.

In Bangladesh, Likee has recently initiated a campaign titled ‘#KnowledgeMonth’ in partnership with 10 Minute School.

The campaign encourages users to create and share videos focusing on various academic and co-curricular skills, which will enlighten people while keeping them entertained.

During the campaign, Likee users uploaded videos on different categories such as English learning, football, art, and cooking, with a primary focus on two specific sections— #howto and #education.

Inspired by the tremendous response, Likee is set to arrange similar campaigns to provide video creators with a platform where they can display their personal talents while expanding career options.

Several platforms, including Likee, have started utilizing digital platforms at the fullest to spread knowledge via digital learning.

While the blurring of the lines between traditional and distance education has been noted for several decades, the pandemic has quickly advanced the erasure of these boundaries.

The future of digital learning is opening up education to a larger section of the population than ever before.
