Logitech MX Master 3S: The mouse to beat all mouse

This sleek and ergonomic device is more than just a mouse

Update : 27 Mar 2024, 09:08 PM

Logitech just brought out its latest and most incredible mouse of all time - the MX Master 3S - in Bangladesh.

This sleek and ergonomic device is more than just a mouse. It is designed to supercharge your productivity and focus on your comfort.

The Logitech MX Master 3S is a joy to work with due to its comfortable grip, electromagnetic scroll wheel, thumb wheel and fantastic sensor.

Logitech designed the Master 3S to deliver high performance, precision, and customisation for various workflows, from coding to video editing, from photo cropping to document writing.

It can handle any task you throw at it, and this one is hard to beat.

While I always look forward to seeing innovation in design and features, the MX Master 3S didn't require many changes from its predecessor to become the ultimate powerhouse.

MX Master series has long set the gold standard for the productivity mouse world for years.

It is the successor of the MX Master 3, but It is better in every way, making it more powerful, precise, and customisable than ever before.

Ergonomic excellence

The Mx Master 3S is a comfortable and ergonomic mouse with a slightly tilted angle inherited from its predecessor, the MX Master 3.

It is designed for right-handed users and has a scoop-shaped slope on the left side with a resting spot for the thumb that can also function as an extra button for customisation.

This feature allows for a comfortable grip closer to a handshake position, reducing forearm pronation, although not as much as a vertical mouse would.

The mouse is designed to provide a well-balanced and seamless experience with easy-to-press buttons that can be customizable to suit individual requirements, making you feel in sync.

The main touchpoint of the mouse is made from a high-quality, luxurious rubberised material that is soft and durable, ensuring that the mouse remains comfortable to use for extended periods without becoming slippery or clammy.

The forward/back buttons and horizontal scroll wheel are conveniently located above the thumb rest area, along with an LED charge indicator light.

The mouse's top area contains the scroll wheel, left and right click buttons, and a small button below the scroll wheel, which can be customized but defaults to changing the scroll wheel's mode.

Quiet comfort

At first glance, the slightly upgraded MX Master 3S mouse may seem identical to its predecessor.

However, upon use, the differences become apparent.

The left and right click buttons use new, quiet switches that reduce noise by 90% compared to the prior model.

This makes the mouse significantly quieter than most others on the market, which could be helpful in close quarters or during in-person meetings.

Despite the lower noise level, the clicks are still zippy and satisfying.

In fact, after a few days of use, I preferred the softer feel of the clicks, which offer excellent tactility and prevent me from feeling like I'm bottoming out while clicking.

Ferrari on wheel

The MX Master 3S has an electromagnetic (two electromagnets inside the wheel interact with the inner gear's teeth, creating friction) scroll wheel called "MagSpeed," one that was introduced in the MX Master 3, which allows for both FreeSpin and Ratchet mode scrolling.

This feature enables you to scroll past 1,000 lines per second or scroll line-by-line for precision.

By default, the Logitech Options+ software uses SmartShift to automatically switch between modes based on how fast you spin the wheel.

Whether looking at or touching the solid scroll wheel, you can immediately sense the better quality over rubberized wheels, which function differently.

The MagSpeed scroll wheel is a huge convenience for editing long documents, vertically navigating large spreadsheets or browsing web pages.

The MagSpeed wheel can also be tilted left or right to move sideways or be pressed to activate the gesture button, allowing you to control your computer with simple hand gestures.

Precision

The Darkfield sensor of the MX Master 3 supported a sensitivity range of 200 to 4,000 DPI (dots per inch).

However, the optical sensor of the Master 3S can go up to 8,000 DPI, which is double that of the MX Master 3.

The Darkfield tracking sensor lets you track on any surface, even glass -- no more mouse pads or sticky surfaces.

A higher DPI also compensates for the weight of the 3S.

Versatility

Like its predecessor, you will make the most out of the MX Master 3S if you use it with multiple systems like mine.

This mouse can connect with up to three devices and systems simultaneously via Bluetooth or Logi Bolt USB dongle included in the package.

Better yet, the 3S uses LogiOptions+ and Flow technology to quickly switch between devices and systems seamlessly with a simple push of the Easy-Switch button on its bottom, and it can even easily copy and paste files across devices and systems.

This mouse is compatible with Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Linux, iPadOS, and Android and can easily pair with and toggle between three PCs.

King of customization

The Logitech MX Master 3S is a nifty mouse with six customizable buttons: two on the side, a thumbwheel above them, a scroll wheel on top, a button below the scroll wheel, and a button on the thumb rest.

To unlock its full potential or use Logi Flow, you need to install Logi Options+ on your Windows or macOS device.

You can customize the buttons to maximize productivity, such as altering the scroll wheel sensation, taking a screenshot, opening an app or file, controlling media, or using gestures.

Portability

The Logi Master 3S is a wireless and rechargeable mouse that eliminates the need for cords or batteries.

Logitech claims it can last up to 70 days on a single charge, which may vary based on usage.

There wasn't time to put this claim to the test, but during a week-long trial, my Logi Options+ indicated that the battery was still at 95% of its capacity.

Verdict

Whether you're a developer, a creative professional, an office worker or an occasional gamer, you deserve the best mouse for your work and play.

But before you make a purchase, It is important to weigh the potential downsides and make an informed decision.

The first obvious factor is the staggering price tag.

Second, this model is designed exclusively for right-handed users, which may be a deal breaker for lefties.

Third, while it can be used for gaming occasionally, It is not explicitly designed for that purpose.

Finally, the mouse's unique shape, size, weight, and button layout may not suit everyone's preferences.

As someone who prioritizes environmental sustainability and frequently writes about it, I have been a loyal user of Logitech's products for over a decade.

Although I have used the Logitech Signature M650 mouse in the past, I have upgraded to the M720 Triathlon for my primary productivity needs since 2022 and recently to the MX Master 3S.

I must say that this mouse stands out from the rest due to its remarkable features, including programmable buttons, advanced wireless capabilities, multi-device control, and comfortable design.

I am confident you will also appreciate its features once you try it.
