Bangladesh International Aquaculture & Seafood Show 2023 to be held on October 19-21

Bangladesh International Aquaculture Seafood Show (BIASS) 2023 is going to be held on October 19-21, 2023 at Bangabandhu International Convention Center (BICC), Dhaka.  

Minister for Fisheries and Livestock SM Rezaul Karim revealed the information on Saturday at a press conference held at Grand Ballroom, InterContinental Dhaka, reads a press release.  

The show will assemble aquaculture and seafood companies, practitioners, seafood processors and exporters, researchers and academicians, government agencies and policymakers, investors and financial institutions, farmers, international buyers and exporters. 

These target participants will join the BIASS 2023 to expand their network, exchange knowledge, explore business opportunities, showcase their products and services, collaborate with stakeholders, influence policies and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the aquaculture and seafood industries in Bangladesh.

Solidaridad is an international network organization working across 40 countries to foster sustainability and to develop scalable and economically sustainable solutions in the agricultural and industrial landscapes, in close collaboration with government agencies, businesses and farming communities.

Solidaridad has been closely working with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock to have more productive growth in Bangladesh's seafood industry.  

Solidaridad, under the strategic guidance and collaboration with the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL), the Department of Fisheries (DoF), the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida), Bangladesh Frozen Foods Exporters Association, is organizing the Bangladesh International Aquaculture and Seafood Show 2023.

Among others, Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Lokman Hossain Mia, executive chairman (senior secretary) of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (Bida) and Dr Nahid Rashid, secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock were present at the press conference. 

In a written statement, the minister told the journalists that Bangladesh International Aquaculture and Seafood Show (BIASS) 2023 is aimed to promote sustainable growth, innovation and international collaboration in Bangladesh's aquaculture and seafood industries while showcasing the country's potential as a leading player in the global seafood market. 

It would also serve as the catalyst for the advancement and recognition of Bangladesh's aquaculture and seafood industries, contributing to the overall socio-economic well-being of the country. 

The Aquaculture and Seafood Show (BIASS) 2023 will comprehensively display aquaculture technologies, equipment, feed, packaging, processing machinery and other related products and services for diverse stakeholders. 

The gathering will create opportunities for business development, new partnership and collaboration among the stakeholders and remain updated with the latest industry trends.

Referring to research-based statistics of the USA-based Vantage Market Research, Minister SM Rezaul Karim informed the journalists that the global aquaculture market was valued at $289.6 billion in 2022 and is projected to reach a value of $421.2 billion by 2030 at a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 5.5% over the forecast period. 

According to Statista, a German online platform specializing in data gathering and visualization, revenue in the fish and seafood market of Bangladesh amounts to $17.38 billion in 2023. 

The market is expected to grow annually by 9.03% (CAGR 2023-2028). 

In global comparison, most revenue is generated in China ($88.09 billion in 2023). In relation to total population figures, per-person revenues of $102.60 are generated in 2023. 

In the fish and seafood market, volume is expected to amount to 1,167m kg by 2028. The fish and seafood market is expected to show a volume growth of 6.3% in 2024. The average volume per person in the fish and seafood market is expected to amount to 5.66kg in 2023.

Minister SM Rezaul Karim expressed hope that the Bangladesh International Aquaculture & Seafood Show 2023 will play an enduring role in strengthening the country's economy in achieving our ultimate goal of turning the country into a Smart Bangladesh, dreamt by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
