The government is set to sit with traders, associations and other stakeholders next week to fix the prices of sacrificial animals' rawhides to be collected during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The meeting is supposed to be held on next June 25 at the Commerce Ministry with Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi in the chair, sources said.
It will set the prices of rawhides and skins of sacrificial animals during the festival, they also said.
They will consider fixing fair rawhide prices for every Eid-ul-Azha to satisfy both owners of sacrificial animals and traders, they added.
During the last Eid-ul-Azha in 2022, the government had increased the price of rawhide of sacrificial cattle by Tk7 per square foot (salt-applied) across the country compared to the prices in 2021.
