Discovery One Ltd hosted Fifa Royale 2023, the biggest LAN tournament of Fifa in the history of Bangladesh for Fifa enthusiasts.
The grand final of the month-long championship took place on May 6 at the International Convention City Bashundhara, with a prize pool of Tk15 lakh, reads a press release.
The community was eager to witness the excitement of esports in Bangladesh, the energy was highly palpable, and the crowd roared for 14 hours straight.
The tournament kicked off on April 5 with 550 Fifa gamers competing online in one-on-one matches.
From there, the top 32 players were selected to continue online.
Next, the top 16 gamers faced off in a gaming studio in person, and finally, the top eight were chosen to compete in the LAN grand finale.
The day began with the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals, the third-place match, and the final.
Renowned bands Nemesis and Artcell performed.
Additionally, there was a friendly match between the vocalist of Nemesis, Zohad Reza Chowdhury, and the guitarist of Artcell, Iqbal Asif Jewel, providing quality post-op content throughout the event.
Esports has become as significant as traditional physical sports in today's age, and with the advancement of technology, they can even outshine its counterpart in some aspects. Bangladesh has already christened the esports industry, and the 17 million+ gaming community has welcomed Discovery One with open arms.
At the Grand Final, Oytijjho Alaff Tajwar Majmuder (Ul3f07) competed with MD Abrar Hossain (game name: adorchelsea08) and won the championship trophy.
The champion received a whopping prize pool of Tk9 lakh.
In the highly anticipated prize-giving ceremony, the top eight awardees received their well-deserved prizes handed out by Prottoy Hossain and Shadab Hossain, the co-founders of Discovery One Ltd.
