Minister for holding jute fairs to expand market

'Organize jute goods fair as much as possible, even after every month, to help increase sales of jute goods made in Bangladesh'

Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi instructed relevant officials on Sunday to arrange jute goods fair regularly to expand the market at home and abroad.

"Organize jute goods fair as much as possible, even after every month, to help increase sales of jute goods made in Bangladesh. The frequent fairs will encourage the entrepreneurs to export their diversified jute goods abroad."

He was speaking during the inaugurating sale and exhibition of diversified jute products at Shilpakala Academy in the capital.

The Ministry of Textiles and Jute organized the event, marking the National Jute Day 2023.

He said more exhibitions at home and abroad will help expand markets of diversified jute products, and also underscored exploring new destinations for exporting diversified jute goods.

"The demand for jute goods is gradually increasing. Now we have to create more entrepreneurs to expand markets of jute products."

"Soon we will be able to ensure diversified jute products at consumers' door due to effective policies of the government," he added.

A total of 72 jute sector entrepreneurs and entities are taking part in the event with different types of jute goods.

The exhibition will continue until March 16 and will remain open to the public from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm every day.

Textiles and Jute Secretary Md Abdur Rouf, and Executive Director of Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) Md Mahmud Hossain were present, among others, on the occasion.
