Gulf Oil Bangladesh had a landmark start to the New Year 2023. On January 4, the cricket star Shakib Al Hasan took over as the CEO for a day.
The 35-year-old all-rounder once again proved his management skills and agility as he effectively took over the role of leading the company, reads a press release.
Shakib attended multiple meetings as the CEO and took some critical decisions during the day. He further encouraged stakeholders and partners to bolster the brand positioning and establish Gulf Oil's global legacy.
Shakib embarked on his journey with Gulf Oil Bangladesh in the year 2019 as the brand ambassador. Since then, he has been an integral part of the brand and has seen it grow over the years.
His association has delivered favourable results for the brand. Shakib's closeness to the brand and keenness to understand corporate functioning led to this opportunity and he was elated when offered to function as the CEO for a day.
Talking about the experience, Bangladesh Test Cricket Captain Shakib Al Hasan said: “I always wanted to understand how a corporate CEO works and how MNC business is managed. The moment, I got the opportunity I said yes.”
“There is a lot that goes into building a business and taking it to heights. As a key decision maker for the business and brand, a lot rides on the CEO's shoulder, and carrying this role did not seem easy at all. But it was an unforgettable experience and I am taking a lot of learning that I will use on and off the field in future,” he added.
CEO of Gulf Oil Bangladesh Amlan Mitra said: “It turned out to be a delightful day with Shakib taking charge of the management role. Employees were surprised when he walked in as their new CEO. His energy was visible and infectious and we could witness the same across employees, partners and all stakeholders. He managed the whole day really well, juggling between meetings, calls and in-person engagements. Like always, he batted well as a CEO and set a new benchmark for the team to follow.”
