Pearson's largest qualification brand ‘Edexcel,' in collaboration with the British Council, conducted its ninth Academic Award Ceremony on Saturday for students in Bangladesh who achieved outstanding results in their International GCSE and A-Level examinations in 2021 and 2022.
The Award Ceremony was held at the Hall of Fame of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka, reads a press release.
This year, 779 awardees received awards for achieving outstanding results. 13 awardees achieved the world's highest marks in different subjects.
There were 658 International GCSE and 108 International A-Level awardees. These students have achieved a minimum seven number of 7-grade points (9-1) or more in their International GCSE subjects and four A grades or more in A-Levels.
There were some students who achieved even 11 7-grade points (9-1) in Int GCSE and 6 A grades in A-Levels.
Honourable Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury attended the grand award ceremony as the chief guest.
During her speech, she hoped young students will be able to devote themselves with confidence and competence as now is the best time for the children to be ready to pave the way for their incredible career destination.
She added, as the leaders of tomorrow they must remember to put their knowledge to practice. Bangladesh's Government is taking great measures for ensuring that by providing stipends, digital devices and internet connections even in rural areas.
She also mentioned the importance of education among girls in Bangladesh, remembering Begum Rokeya.

British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson congratulated the students and their families for the brilliant result.
He said: “Education is a fundamental human right and critical for the development of a country. What you have done is a fantastic investment for your future. The UK government is pleased to have many projects that have been designed to connect young people and inspire them to different pathways of skills, knowledge, credibility and education through a series of training and activities. Our job is to create such opportunities for youth."

Bangladesh is one of the key countries where a large number of students pursue Pearson qualifications. Many of these students end up going abroad for higher studies in renowned international and local universities.
