Since the Toyota Prius became the first hybrid vehicle to be mass-produced more than 20 years ago, hybrid vehicles have evolved from being an anomaly to a $350.1 billion industry.
Although the Corolla is now available as a hybrid and the Prius is still available, the Camry Hybrid is a rather excellent fuel alternative for people who prefer a bigger vehicle.
Because of the hybrid powertrain, you won't need to fill up as frequently, and the ride is really comfortable and enjoyable. However, there are always additional costs associated with technology, so you'll have to decide if it's worthwhile for you.
A well-designed CVT transmission is paired with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, electric motor, and battery in the Camry Hybrid.
When the petrol engine and electric motor operate together, their combined horsepower, which is 176 horsepower on its own, increases to 208 horses.
Depending on the driving circumstances, the vehicle can operate on gas, batteries, or a combination of both. Automatic switching is also available. And on top of that regenerative braking allows the battery to recharge on its own, without the need for an electrical outlet.
How it drives
There isn't much feel to the steering, which is too light in my opinion. It wouldn't hurt to reduce the assistance somewhat. Even so, that would only be a problem for enthusiasts, for whom the automobile is not built, and probably not for the vast majority of commuters who make up the target market. The Camry is perfect for travelling from point A to point B in comfort and with minimal hassle.
Toyota's hybrid technology has taken some time to perfect, and the Camry performs its job beautifully. Although it is easy to recognize when the engine is operating, the change from battery to fuel is fairly seamless.
While there is an "Eco" driving option, it is obnoxiously sluggish, and the "Sport" mode isn't really sporty.
However, the "Normal" mode was the most satisfying because it had more than enough power for regular driving, including merging or passing at highway speeds.
Interior
There aren't many further drawbacks. The majority of the controls are housed in a stylish triangle screen, and there are enough knobs and buttons to make them easy to use and less distracting. A DVD player, which is becoming increasingly rare these days, and GPS are only included in the top specs; however, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes standard.
All models have an eight-way power adjustable driver's seat, and a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, allowing you to have more cargo space if need be.
Heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED headlamps, and a safety package that includes automatic high beams, emergency front braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning.
Mileage
The Toyota Camry has long been one of the most popular cars on the road, and the 2020 Camry Hybrid is just a more environmentally friendly version of the regular sedan. Although the Camry Hybrid is not the most exciting vehicle to drive, the EPA estimates that it may achieve up to 22 km per litre in combined city and highway driving.
Verdict
It's difficult to go wrong with the 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid if you're not keen to jump on the crossover/SUV bandwagon. It has a long history of popularity and reliability, and during the past two years, it has racked up a number of awards.
The 2020 Camry hybrid will cost you around Tk85 lakh and except for the price premium, which makes fuel a better option for certain people, the Camry Hybrid is really hard to fault. If so, this should certainly be taken into account.
