Unilever Consumer Care’s share price increases after Q2 report

UNILEVERCL’s per share price increased by Tk36.50 overnight, thanks to lower cost of sales and operational expenses

Unilever Consumer Care Limited (UNILEVERCL), one of the country’s leading fast-moving consumer goods companies, has reported a staggering growth of 78.66% year on year (YOY) in its second quarter, thanks to lower cost of sales and operational expenses.

Meanwhile, after the board meeting, the price of each share is starting to rise in the stock market after the publication of the company's financial report on July 24 afternoon. 

The following morning (July 25), the price per share started rising and by the closing time, it increased by Tk36.50 to Tk2,860. 

According to the report, during the half year, the company’s earnings totalled Tk35.3 crore or Tk29.32 per share, which is 57.71% higher than the same period in 2021. 

The company made a profit of Tk18.1 crore or Tk14.9 per share during the April-June quarter this year against Tk10.1 crore in the same period last year, it said in a filing on the Dhaka Stock Exchange today (Monday).

Unilever Consumer Care informed in its exchange filing that improved efficiency in operating expenses, reduction in corporate income tax rate and one-off benefit from reassessment of past liabilities and obligations have contributed to their strong earnings performance. 

Cost of sales plummeted to 45% of sales last quarter, which was 55% during the same quarter last year, according to the company’s unaudited reports published on its website. 

The company sold 3,572 tons of health food drinks worth Tk186 crore and 1,039 tons of glucose powder worth Tk25.9 crore in the last six months. 

Rising share price

The stock price of the company advanced marginally on Monday after the announcement of its financial statement. 

On Monday, July 25, the company stock price closed at Tk2,860 per share, 1.29% higher than the price in the previous session. 

On Sunday the company's stock closing price was at Tk2,823.5 per share, meaning within a day after publishing the financial data the per share price rose by Tk36.5.

Currently, the sponsors and directors of the company hold 86.96% of its shares, while institutional investors 8.79%, foreign investors 0.29% and general investors 3.96%.

Unilever Consumer Care was listed with the Dhaka bourse in the year 1976.

Unilever Consumer Care’s DSE trading code is ‘UNILEVERCL’ and its scrip code is 18454.
