In the recent flood, the situation has been very devastating in the Netrokona district.
Around 600,000 people have been marooned in six upazilas while another 16,000 took refuge at different shelters. Kalmakanda, Durgapur, Mohanganj, Madan, and Khaliajuri were hit hard by the disaster. The affected people have been passing a hard time.
Realizing the challenges of the inhabitants of this area, leading global ICT infrastructure provider with a localized vision, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, and BTCL joined hands to aid the flood victims of Mohanganj upazila of Netrokona, reads a press release.
With this initiative, over one thousand bags of relief items have been handed over to BTCL by Huawei at the BTCL office on Sunday.
Chief Operating Officer of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited Taoguangyao handed over to Managing Director of BTCL Dr Md Rafiqul Matin at a symbolic handover event in presence of the Minister of the Posts and Telecommunications Division Mustafa Jabbar and Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division Md Khalilur Rahman.
At the event, Mustafa Jabbar said: “Our country has been going through an extremely harsh and challenging period due to the horrible flood situation. It is our responsibility to stand by each other during this difficult time. I am very happy to witness Huawei and BTCL coming forward in support of those affected by this devastating flood.”
Taoguangyao said: “Huawei has always made sure to be there for people in times of need. This time, yet again we have come together with BTCL to provide support to the distressed people. We hope that the relief items will help those affected by the flood. Huawei will continue to be there in support of the people of Bangladesh in every way possible.”
Dr Md. Rafiqul Matin said: “We are pleased to be able to collaborate with Huawei in sending out the relief materials. These are challenging times and only by staying together, we will be able to overcome the situation. We will continue to make consistent efforts so that the flood-affected people can recover from the difficult situation.”
The one thousand bags of relief products include puffed rice, flattened rice, sugar, candle, matchbox, toast biscuit and other necessary items. BTCL will take the necessary steps to distribute the items among the victims very soon.
Last week, Huawei handed over food items to two thousand families separately of Khaliajhuri, Netrokona in presence of Upazila Parishad Chairman Rabbani Jabbar; UNO of Khaliajhuri AHM Ariful Islam, and Major Zisanul Haider.
