To facilitate the growing number of e-sports fans in the country, Discovery One Ltd is set to host the D1 Cup Bangladesh 2022 later this month.
The gaming competition will have prize money worth Tk40.5 lakh, split between three games - DOTA 2, Valorant, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), organizers said at a press briefing in the capital on Sunday.
Prottoy Hossain, CEO of Dekko ISHO Venture Capital; Md Masudur Rahman, COO of Dekko ISHO Venture Capital; Shadab Hossain, CEO, Paramount Venture Capital; Md Aliur Rahman Sohan, CEO, Level 7 Solutions Limited and Zenitic E-sports were present at the event, said a press release.
The organizers also said that the purpose of this event was to set a milestone for e-sports in Bangladesh and accelerate its progress in the country.
“Bangladesh has never before hosted an e-sports tournament on such a large scale. We are indeed very happy to be able to create such a platform for gamers in the country. I believe we will find many young and talented gamers through this tournament," said Prottoy Hossain, CEO, Dekko-ISHO Venture Capital.
Shadab Hossain, CEO of Paramount Venture Capital said: “A proper career through e-sports was almost unimaginable before. I think this tournament will change such ideas, and it will play a significant role in shaping the future of the young generation. This D1 Cup is going to be the biggest LAN tournament in the history of Bangladesh.”
This event is set to be the largest LAN tournament in the history of Bangladesh.
While the two are computer-based games, DOTA 2 and Valorant, MLBB is a mobile game.
Besides the prize money, every winning team and player will also be awarded trophies and other striking prizes.
The registration phase and qualifying rounds of this event will be held online.
Players can register themselves for this tournament on June 11-12.
The online qualifiers will be held from June 14 onwards.
The grand finale will be held at the end of July, at an offline venue.
