The government is working to launch four types of national insurance schemes, including one for the unemployed, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has announced.
The finance minister read out the proposals for the 2022-2023 fiscal year in parliament on Thursday.
The three other schemes are maternity insurance, sickness insurance and employment injury insurance.
“The government is working to launch a National Social Insurance Scheme in the country. A study has already been conducted on this scheme, at the initiative of the Cabinet Division, by laying emphasis on the gradual introduction of four types of social insurance in the country,” said the minister.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment had already taken steps to launch a pilot of the employment injury scheme to protect workers from injury in the workplace, he added.
