Brand Bangladesh is a solid investment, experts reaffirmed at a roundtable on Sunday.

The last fifty years have seen profound success and the policy orientation of Vision 2041 demonstrates a long-term commitment to improving economic and social performance, industry leaders and innovators said at the event hosted by the American Alumni Association (AAA) at a city hotel.

Drawn from the community of Bangladeshi alumni of United States universities, the roundtable featured leaders and innovators in the technology, finance, commerce, manufacturing, health, education, social enterprise and media sectors.

Discussants agreed that a major goal is to draw foreign investment into the country - and that laws and regulations would have to harmonise with this objective.

They said that stressing Bangladesh's strengths, potential, and policy pragmatism is an important aspect of filling the information gap and building ties with foreign partners.

Participants highlighted the importance of technology, training and education, quality health care, a robust media and women's participation in achieving inclusive growth.

They raised the importance of planning for climate change, automation and artificial intelligence as potential disruptors in the emerging global economy.

The AAA roundtable participants also stressed the importance of tapping the potential of Bangladesh's large diaspora community for expertise, investments, partnerships and goodwill.
