Banglalink, Teletalk sign MoU for infrastructure sharing

Under the MoU, the two operators will explore and assess the scopes and technical feasibility of sharing their respective telecom infrastructures and facilities

Banglalink and Teletalk have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities of sharing their respective telecom infrastructures. 

According to a press release, the MoU signing ceremony was held at the office of Posts and Telecommunications Division, and the MoU was signed by Erik Aas, CEO of Banglalink and Md Shahab Uddin, managing director, Teletalk in the presence of Mustafa Jabbar, Honorable Minister, Posts and Telecommunications Division. 

Also present at the signing ceremony were Md Khalilur Rahman, secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division; Taimur Rahman, chief corporate and regulatory affairs officer, Banglalink; Wahed ul Huq Khandkar, head of Government and LEA Relations, Banglalink and other top management members of both organizations.

Under the MoU, the two operators will explore and assess scopes and technical feasibility of sharing their respective telecom infrastructures and facilities with each other in compliance with the infrastructure sharing guidelines, tower sharing guidelines and all other relevant laws and regulations.

Mustafa Jabbar, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Division said: "Telecom operators need to come up with new collaborative approaches to ensure more enhanced service-quality for customers. This kind of initiative has the potentiality to overhaul and advance the industry in the long run. I hope it turns out to be an exemplary way for the industry to make more contributions to digital Bangladesh."

Erik Aas of Banglalink said: “Banglalink will always seek opportunities to partner with other telecom stakeholders to strengthen the industry’s infrastructure, which can lead to a better quality of services and improved cost-efficiency. I would like to thank Teletalk for coming forward in this regard and expect to see this joint initiative bringing positive results in many areas.”

Md Shahab Uddin, managing director of Teletalk said: "We are delighted to sign this MoU with Banglalink today. It is opening an opportunity for us to maximize the utilization of our infrastructures in a collaborative manner. We want to move forward with a view to making sure that customers benefit from this initiative in coming days."

Banglalink will continue to take initiatives to facilitate the growth of the telecom industry.
