Budget FY22: TIN mandatory for purchasing savings certificates above Tk200,000

The finance minister proposed to submit TIN in other cases too for expanding the tax net of the country

From the 2021-22 fiscal year, Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) has been made mandatory for purchasing national savings certificates and opening a postal savings account exceeding Tk200,000.

The finance minister proposed to submit TIN in other cases too for expanding the tax net of the country, during the budget announcement on Thursday. 

“Having TIN is mandatory in cases of obtaining approval of a plan for a building, obtaining registration for a cooperative society, and for purchasing national savings certificates exceeding Tk200,000 and opening a postal savings account exceeding Tk2,00,000,” Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said at the parliament.
