GP, DU Faculty of Business Studies launch next-gen remote learning

The solution enables the Faculty of Business Studies to have access to a centralized control panel and dashboard to manage these connections and send necessary SMS notifications and communications to students

The Faculty of Business Studies, under University of Dhaka, on Thursday partnered with Grameenphone to leverage their nationwide 4G connectivity, and strong distribution to hand over SIM cards to the students’ doorsteps, keeping them connected to what matters to them most.

This is one of many stepping-stones to connect towards the future in empowering the students to further unleash their potentials through inclusive connectivity access, says a press release.

The partnership will empower all the registered students of FBS access to affordable quality 4G data customized for their education needs that includes education contents designed by the Faculty from anywhere in the country.

Grameenphone’s comprehensive 4G network coverage is pivotal to ensure students have seamless classroom experience from wherever they are stationed at.

The solution enables the Faculty of Business Studies to have access to a centralized control panel and dashboard to manage these connections and send necessary SMS notifications and communications to students.

The partnership was announced on the day during a webinar titled “Connecting Future: Unleashing Potentials in Higher Education” organized by DU's Faculty of Business Studies

As per the agreement, the Faculty of Business Studies will have access to explore full range of Grameenphone ICT solutions to co-create a longer-term sustainable solution to bring further digitization to their evolution journey.

Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman, along with Pro Vice-Chancellor (administration) Prof Muhammad Samad; Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) Prof ASM Maksud Kamal and Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenphone, attended the session.

Md Akhtaruzzaman, Vice-Chancellor, University of Dhaka, stated, “Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, we have been facing numerous challenges. Continuous progress in the education sector is a must for the development of the country.”

Prof Muhammad Abdul Moyeen, acting dean of Faculty of Business Studies, stated: "While opting for online learning and emergency remote teaching, we have been facing numerous challenges, including affordability of data connection for the students. This partnership with Grameenphone, I believe, will be instrumental in overcoming the challenges."

Yasir Azman, CEO of Grameenphone, said: "During this pandemic, we have seen disruption in our socioeconomic life; being a resilient nation, we are confident of fighting back coronavirus, recovering and rebuilding our economy; however, if our future, our students struggle to continue the study, we shall not be able to recover that loss.
