Multi-sectoral civic platform Healthy Bangladesh and Power and Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC), are partnering with UNDP to provide personal protective equipment (PPEs) for nearly 3,000 municipal cleaners of 16 municipalities and a city corporation.
The move, a part of “The Clean Cities” initiative taken by Healthy Bangladesh, was launched on June 25 by distributing PPEs at Moulvibazar municipality, said a press release.
Cleaners of Noakhali and Patuakhali municipalities received PPEs on Sunday while Convener of Healthy Bangladesh Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman inaugurated the distribution program in a virtual session and Sudipto Mukerjee, UNDP Resident Representative in Bangladesh, attended the event as a special guest.
Mayors, councilors and city level stakeholders of both the municipalities attended the PPE distribution program from their respective towns.
The organizers thanked UNDP for partnering with them on this important initiative.
Mayors of Patuakhali and Noakhali municipalities Mohiuddin Ahmed and Shahid Ullah Khan Sohel, AF Hasan Arif, former Attorney General, AMM Nasir Uddin, former Health Secretary, Ashekur Rahman, Head of Poverty and Urbanisation, UNDP Bangladesh, were also present at the virtual meeting.
