GE to expand its activities in Bangladesh

General Electric (GE), a US-based multinational conglomerate, is planning to expand its activities in Bangladesh. "GE has been working to increase its investment here because an investment friendly atmosphere is prevailing in this country," GE South Asia President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Banmali Agrawala said during a meeting with Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Kazi M Aminul Islam on Monday. GE has long been engaged in the Bangladeshi power sector. It is also working in health care, energy transmission and distribution, and the aviation sector of the country. According to a press release, the BIDA chairman assured GE that full cooperation would be extended from BIDA for expansion of GE’s investment in Bangladesh. GE's country manager Md Nawshad Ali, South Asia Corporate and Policy Affairs senior Counsel, Vice-President Abidur Rahman Chowdhury and sales director of GE power services Sartaj Bhuiyan were present at the meeting.
