Modele Group, a local garment manufacturer and exporter, has announced Tk5 crore integrated package program to prevent the spread of coronavirus and ensure public security, food and health safety, especially for the people of Narayanganj.
The four-tier package includes public awareness and hygiene program (Tk40 lakh), food support program (Tk1.5 crore), medical protection program (Tk1.5 crore) and financial aid program (Tk1.58 Crore), said a press release.
"Narayanganj has been marked as the largest hotspot in terms of spreading Covid-19. With the highest mercy of Almighty Allah, lives of people can be saved by creating a regional safety net along with the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This disaster can be overcome through collective efforts of the affluent people and organizations along with public awareness,” said Masuduzzaman, founding managing director of the Modele Group.
Under the public awareness and hygiene program, the group has taken different initiatives for public awareness to curb Covid-19 and sterilize the city and roads by their own volunteers with the help of locals.
Under the food support program, it will provide food support to around 15,000 vulnerable families, including factory workers, and the food basket includes rice, pulses, potatoes, oil, onion and soap.
To ensure the working health safety and protection to the frontline medical team of the district, the group has stepped up to collect authentic medical protective equipment from overseas; hand gloves, PPE, goggles, shield, masks, thermometer etc are in the list. This equipment will be distributed through proper authorities to ensure maximum coverage.
Under the financial aid program, the company is going to provide cash assistance to different government organizations and elected representatives for their moral boost and appreciation to their vital role in handling such a pandemic.
Narayanganj City Corporation, MPs, deputy commissioner, police, local councillors, media people and middle-class families are in the list of this financial aid.
Modele Group opened two hotline numbers where vulnerable families may contact and get support for food or finance.
Masuduzzaman also promised to stay beside any noble initiatives taken by authorities or stakeholders of the city.
