GSK Bangladesh distributed personal protective equipment (PPE), disposable hand gloves, mask, hand sanitizer, liquid soap, hand rubs among underprivileged people in Gazipur recently with the support of CARE Bangladesh in an effort to combat coronavirus.
GSK also distributed Horlicks in Gazipur to provide nutrition, said a press release.
The distribution was made with the financial support of GSK Bangladesh-funded HALOW+ (Health Access and Linkage Opportunities for Workers Plus) project, the release added.
A total of 19 Volunteer Groups and Community Support Groups were formed who coordinated with Ward Councilors in Ward No. 37, 22, 19, 17 and 12.
Mayor of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) Mayor Md Zahangir Alam received protective equipment and hand-washing materials from the high officials of HALOW+ project in a ceremony where local councilors were also present.
Till date, HALOW+ project reached nearly 30,000 RMG workers and 40,000 community people through small group discussion sessions, one to one awareness discussion, hand washing demonstration, group awareness session on Hand washing, distribution of posters and handwashing arrangements in factories and communities in Gazipur City Corporation.
