Infrastructure-related businesses in the country are growing as major development projects are either going on or in the pipeline, participants in the 26th Build Bangladesh International Expo 2019 have said.

A total of 267 companies from Bangladesh, India, China, Sweden, Germany, Italy, the USA, Uzbekistan, the UAE, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Finland and Turkey show cased their latest innovations and products at the three-day expo that ended yesterday.

CEMS Global organized the expo at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital, focusing on infrastructure industry including construction, power, solar, water, safety and security, lighting and real estate.

Under the Build Expo umbrella there was 22nd Power Bangladesh Expo, 17th Solar Bangladesh Expo, 2nd Dhaka International Lighting Expo,  3rd Water Bangladesh International Expo, 20th Real Estate Expo- Bangladesh and 4th International Safety & Security Expo Bangladesh.

“This an expo for a concentrated market and we are having good response. Our company deals with solar solutions and we are aiming to meet big industrialist and government people as the investment volume is big,” said Nahid Hasan, general manager of Exelon Bangladesh Ltd, on the last day of the expo.

He said a large number of giant infrastructural projects were being implemented or in the pipeline and such expo helped explore opportunities.

"We are satisfied with the response we got in the expo,” he said.

At present, major infrastructure development projects such as metro rail, an expressway with access control, Padma Bridge (roadway and railway), a subway, BRT (bus rapid transit lines), an airport terminal, a tunnel in the Karnaphuli, and a nuclear power plant are in progress.

"The response of the expo was very good and we showcased water treatment plant solution," said Nazrul Islam, executive of Water Technologies BD.

He said the scope of water treatment plants was huge in the country as clean water was one of the first priorities for living.

MD Juwel Rana, senior sales executive at Milontika Engineering Service, said his company was showcased asphalt and concrete batching.

"There are lots of construction works taking place on a mega scale and our product is on high demand," he said.

On the sidelines of this exhibition there were two seminars — one on industrial rooftop solar - CAPEX, OPEX model, and the other on sustainable management of industrial water and wastewater.
