Daffodil International University in Dhaka has launched a programme to create new entrepreneurs which will help young educated people be self-employed.
The Entrepreneurship Department of the university launched the programme at a press conference at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday.
DIU Board of Trustees Chairman Md Sabur Khan formally inaugurated the project.
DIU is going to generate 500 new entrepreneurs, 30% of which will be women, in next five years under the project titled, “Are You the Next Startup?”
Online registration is required to get into the programme.
Conducted by DIU Students Affairs Director Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, the press conference was also attended, among others, by Faculty of Business and Economics Dean Prof Rafiqul Islam, Director for Innovation and Incubation Cell Abu Taher Khan and Head of DIU Entrepreneurship Department Syed Maruf Reza.
“Under the project, the best quality young stars will be discovered from all over the country and provided 100% scholarship as well as all sorts of logistic supports and cooperation until they become a successful entrepreneur,” said Sabur Khan.
“The programme is a national talent hunt to find potential startups and entrepreneurs of Bangladesh,” he said.
Sabur Khan said it will hunt, groom, design, organise and manage new enterprises or business ideas until the ultimate success of the participants.
The registration for the project through online application will continue until April 12, 2017.
