Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle kabir on Saturday urged the banks and financial institutions to stand beside the meritorious students of rural areas.
He said this while addressing a function organized by Shahjalal Islami Bank at the Officers Club.
“Besides the government, banks and financial institutions will have to come forward for overall development of education,” he said while addressing as chief guest.
The governor handed over the checks of scholarships to meritorious students in the program.
Fazle Kabir said education is the most important component for creating skilled manpower. The students who are struggling to cope with the poverty need supports from corporate organizations.
Shahjalal Islami Bank Chairman Akkushuddin Mollah presided over the event. Shahjalal Islami Bank Foundation Chairman Engineer Md. Towhidur Rahman and Managing Director Shahidul Islam were also present.
Shahjalal Islami Bank has given scholarships to 500 meritorious students studying in different colleges, medical colleges and universities of the country. The scholarships are given to the students who successfully completed their SSC and HSC examinations in 2018.
