Daphne Poon, marketing and communications director of ITMA 2019, presented the keynote speech in the program where she invited Bangladeshi textile and apparel manufacturers to join at ITMA 2019 exhibition, describing it as an innovation centre.

ITMA 2019 is slated to be held from June 20-26 later this year at Fira de Barcelona, Spain.

She pointed out that ITMA is serving to build a sustainable future through sustainable innovations “that will be advancing textile and garment machineries”.

Every edition of ITMA features a wide range of technologies, machinery, equipment and solutions for each aspect of textile and apparel manufacturing that help key manufacturers meet many of today’s challenges including cost reduction, production increase, sustainable manufacturing and others, she described.

Md Morshed Sarwar Sohel, director of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), said, “If we do not adopt new technology, we cannot survive and protect our environment as well. Abdullah Al Mamum, vice President of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), said, “If we want to achieve our government’s $50 billion target, there is no alternative to produce value added products and, in this regard, ITMA can assist us immensely as it is an innovation hub.”

Among others, Engr Ayub Nabi Khan, pro vice chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology, Md Shafiqur Rahman, president of the Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET) and Muhammad Ayub, president of Bangladesh Indenting Agents’ Association (BIAA) were also present at the occasion.
