A three-day Bangladesh Leather Footwear and Leather goods International Sourcing Show (BLLISS)-2018 will begin on November 22 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.
The Leather Goods and Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB) will launch the second ever BLLISS-2018 in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), organizers said on Saturday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the event.
The show will be held under the thematic tagline: “Bangladesh: Destination Next.' Key objectives of BLLISS 2018 are to brand and position Bangladesh in the global supply chain map as the next destination for high value-added leather products.
Shubhashish Bose, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, announced the three-day programme at a press conference held at the Westin Hotel in Gulshan.
The press conference was chaired by Md. Saiful Islam, President, LFMEAB, and the guest speakers were: Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman Kazi Aminul Islam, Yu, Cheng Hsing (Sam), Managing Director, Blue Ocean Footwear Ltd., and Sandeep Das, country managing director, Intertek Bangladesh.
Shubashish Basu said: "The show will be instrumental in meeting the export earnings target of $5b from the leather sector by 2021."
LFMEAB President Md. Saiful Islam said the purpose of the show is to turn Bangladesh into a sourcing hub by bringing buyers, global retailers, and international sourcing agents under one roof so they can communicate directly with local manufacturers and exporters.
"Bangladesh could be the next destination for global brands and buyers if the government and policymakers take a pragmatic decision in this regard," he said.
Information about Exhibition
The exhibition will start at 2 PM on the opening day but on 23rd and 24th November, the exhibition will start at 10 AM and continue till 6 PM.
The exhibition will remain open for everyone. Well known local and foreign footwear and leather goods manufacturers and exporters from Bangladesh will display their products at the exhibition. Around 30 foreign companies and brands from 13 countries are expected to join the show, organizers said.
The countries include Hong Kong (SAR), Germany, Australia, Italy, Japan, France, United States of America, China, Belgium, United Kingdom, Sweden, India, and Ethiopia.
Products on Display
On the basis of Business to Business (B2B), the exhibition will showcase diverse products in addition to the collections of the latest footwear and leather fashion products produced from Bangladesh. The products include bags, wallets, suitcases and a wide range of accessories including belts & gloves.
