Rajshahi has started distributing forms for gas connections in the commercial sector, while 21,000 people have applied for gas connections for residences. Rajshahi city corporation (RCC) mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton said that their gas supply work will start soon.
On Monday morning the Rajshahi regional office of the Western Region Gas Company Limited, organized an inauguration program for commercial gas connections and a reception for the RCC mayor at Kharkhuri TBS campus.
Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton said:"In Rajshahi, gas connections are of high importance in industrial and commercial areas. On Monday (yesterday), we distributed the gas connection forms for the commercial sector. And 9,364 people have been given gas connections in the residences of Rajshahi. The arrangements for connecting 21,000 people who have applied for gas connections at home will start soon.
In the Rajshahi sector, 291 people received gas connections in the commercial segment.
Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Moniruzzaman Moni, Western Gas Company Limited Managing Director Abdul Mannan Patwari, Local Parila Union Chairman Saiful Islam Bhulu, spoke on the occasion.
“Rajshahi had a gas connectionaround 2005-06. But later the connection was given to Bogra. It took us a lot of trouble, but in June 2013 we were provided with the gas connection again,” said Khairuzzaman.
