“The country will be able to overcome the gas crisis gradually and after 2018, there will be no crisis of gas.”
He was addressing the opening session of the 50-year celebration programme of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce in the city on Wednesday.
Highlighting the country’s investment potential and progress, the minister said there is an enormous scope for investment in the country.
Sylhet and Chittagong are very potential areas for investment, the minister said, adding that the government has been working to develop the communication system to boost local and foreign investments in the country.
The present government has been establishing an IT city in Sylhet’s Companyganj. Tourism is gradually expanding in the region, which is also a suitable place for setting up paper and leather industries.
Sylhet Chamber president Salah Uddin Ali Ahmad presided over the event while Dr AK Abdul Momen, Nasir A Chowdhury, Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Hafiz Ahmed Majumder, first vice-president of FBCCI Md Saiful Islam Mohiuddin, among others, spoke.
