Titas Gas has been conducting drives against illegal gas connections, with executive magistrates through mobile courts leading the operation.
They have fined many business institutions in the last one month.
Divisional vigilance teams of Titas gas are also conducting separate drives to reduce illegal gas connections.
On May 9, the gas connections in two business institutions in Gazipur, were disconnected. They were slapped with fines of Tk2.5 lakh and Tk25,000 respectively.
Earlier on May 6, gas connections of one captive power plant, six industrial and six commercial institutions were disconnected.
At the same time, 29,953 of illegal gas connections of residents were cut off.
So far a total of a 77km illegal gas pipelines have been disconnected.
Gas connections of 652 licensed residents, eight factories, 13 commercial spaces and four captive power plants were also cut off for non-payment of dues.
